Hi my name is Pam and my husband sustained a TBI October 15, 2006. He was in a coma for about a month, then a low level of consciousness till I brought him home December 7, 2006, they wanted to send him to a nursing home, said I couldn't care for him, it would be to much, luckily he hadn't married them, I make the decisions, he's only 32 years old.

When I got him home, the same day he went from sleeping 90 percent of the day to staying awake 90 percent! He really woke up. Day 4 after the surgury we learned he had a stroke from the accident. He had a 3cm midline shift, which we were told he had no chance of ever having any quality of life, he'd be vegetative if he lived. Oh his accident was he had fallen off of a "gator" which is kinda like a golf cart, we were moving about 10mph, he fell about 4 ft from the ground, freak accident!

Today almost 3 months later, he's waiting to go to rehab, he was not strong enough to go when he was discharged from the hospital. The Saturday before Christman when I got him up to the livingroom, I leaned down and kissed him, told him I loved him, he said I love you to! He just woke up and all of a sudden able to talk! God answers prayers. He can move his left side, starting to control it to. Right side was affected by his stroke. His mental status is he's confused most the time and he act's almost like a 2-3 year old. But he's getting better everyday. We were told he had no chance, if they could see him today!

Anyone with a similar situation I'd love to hear from you, see what to expect next, would like someone's input on the way he act's, that, no one has ever mentioned to me, will he mature again?
