Continued Debate Over Cerebral Perfusion

It has long been understood that low cerebral blood flow (also called cerebral perfusion pressure – CPP, the rate at which oxygenated blood is flowing through the brain) is associated with poor outcome after TBI.. This has lead to studies trying to present with an agreed target to achieve in patients with brain trauma. An attempt to regulate at 70mmHg showed complications and a goal of 60mmHg is now recommended, although the debate continues.
