Say No to Herbal Remedies

The use of herbal supplements is common in the U.S. However, following a brain injury, remedies such as St. Johns Wort and Ginkgo Biloba, SHOULD BE AVOIDED. Studies show that they may induce mania in TBI patients. If you feel that you must take supplements, make sure you clear them with your doctor, especially if taken in conjunction with prescription medication. (Spinella M., 2002)
