Fatigue and Mild Traumatic Brain Injury

Although fatigue is one of the most reported symptoms after TBI, there have not been many studies on its effects. A group in the Netherlands (Stuleneijer, M et al. 2006), studied approximately 300 patients with MTBI. The study found that one-third of the patients experienced severe fatigue six months after injury and that the type of fatigue is associated with limitations in daily functioning. Severe fatigue was highly associated with the experience of other symptoms and limitation and did not stand alone.
